On Sunday, Nyapachuma Memorial Foundation (NMF) had the honour of hosting visitors from Canada as part of an intercultural exchange under the World of Wahkohtowin project, led by the Métis National Council, one of Canada’s three National Indigenous Organizations.
The Foundation welcomed representatives from the Métis Governments of Alberta and Ontario, including elected officials, technical experts, and citizens. The engagement brought together three elders and two students from NMF’s Steering Committee, creating space to share our work, exchange knowledge, and foster mutual learning.
The visit featured a shared traditional lunch and a cultural experience at Kabwata Cultural Village, providing guests with deeper insight into Zambia’s cultural heritage and community life.
Wahkohtowin, a Cree term meaning “we are all related,” reflects the spirit of kinship, connection to land, and shared responsibility that anchors this climate adaptation exchange. NMF looks forward to the continued collaboration and meaningful relationships being strengthened during their time in Zambia and beyond.
