Nyapachuma Memorial Foundation joined the nation in commemorating International Women’s Day 2026 in Lusaka, standing in solidarity with women and girls across the country.
This year’s commemoration was held under the theme “Rights. Action. Justice. For All Women and Girls,” which calls for collective efforts to advance equality, protect the rights of women and girls, and take meaningful action toward justice.
The national event was graced by the President of the Republic of Zambia, Hakainde Hichilema, who joined thousands of women, stakeholders, and organizations in celebrating the progress made toward gender equality while emphasizing the importance of protecting the rights and dignity of women and girls.
As an organization working closely with young women and girls in institutions of higher learning, Nyapachuma Memorial Foundation participated in the march past alongside students and other stakeholders, raising awareness on sextortion and gender-based violence (GBV).
Through our work, we remain committed to breaking the silence around sextortion, promoting safe learning environments, and empowering students to speak out against all forms of abuse and exploitation.
On this important day, we celebrate the strength, resilience, and achievements of women and girls and reaffirm our commitment to continue advocating for rights, equality, and justice in our learning institutions and communities.
